spin off Marvel’s Venom The game from Insomniac Games, known for a massive leak in 2023, is still said to be in development. The project has long been thought to be potentially cancelled, but a high-profile insider claims that development on the game is continuing. If the message is correct, Venom could become the link between future major releases of Insomniac.

Information about the “Venom” stand-alone game appears for the first time since the server was hacked insomniacs End of 2023. Subsequently, a large amount of internal studio material appeared online, including information about its plans for the next few years. Items mentioned include “Marvel Wolverine”, “Marvel Spider-Man 3”, “Ratchet and Clank”, “Marvel X-Men” As well as a separate game dedicated to Venom.

Initially, the spin-off was supposed to happen sooner. The leaked document mentioned 2025, but that deadline has long since passed and Insomniac has yet to officially announce the project. Due to the lack of any news, there has been speculation that development has been halted.

Now, insider NateTheHate is trying to clarify the situation. According to him, Marvel’s “Venom” has not been canceled and is still in active development. However, the source did not disclose an expected release date, nor when Insomniac or Sony will officially launch the game for the first time.

For fans of the universe Marvel’s Spider-Man Such a project seems logical. Venom has become one of the central characters Marvel Spider-Man 2in which he played the role of the main villain. The character has received a lot of attention from players, so turning him into the protagonist of a standalone game could be a natural progression for the universe Insomniac has created.

It’s unclear what kind of story the studio wants to tell. Fan speculation has long included a Deadly Protector storyline in the comics, but there’s been no solid evidence to support this. It’s possible that Insomniac has come up with an entirely separate plot for Venom.

News that emerged in April 2026 caused more confusion. Actor Najib Jeter, best known for playing Miles Morales, said a spin-off series about Venom was indeed in development, but was later canceled after the death of Tony Todd, the actor who voiced Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The news quickly spread among fans but was later denied by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier.

Therefore, the version regarding the cancellation of the project has not yet been confirmed. However, there’s no official data on his current condition, so NateTheHate’s new information remains unconfirmed and insider information.

One reason for the delay may be Insomniac’s development structure itself. Following the leaks, it became clear that the studio was planning multiple major projects simultaneously, with the main focus in recent years being Marvel’s Wolverine . The game is about to be released, so after launch, the developer’s resources may be reallocated between the next games.

Even if the leaked 2023 production roadmap is partially valid, Insomniac still has a lot of work to do. These include Marvel’s “Spider-Man 3” in 2028, the new “Ratchet & Clank” in 2029, and Marvel’s “X-Men” in 2030. At the same time, the studio’s plans may change multiple times over the course of several years.

In this case, Marvel’s Venom could indeed find its niche between major releases. For example, the game could launch in 2027, a year before the third Spider-Man movie is expected to be released. Sony and Insomniac already use a similar approach: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales became a relatively compact standalone project that filled the gap between the two numbered parts of the series.

However, this is currently only a possible scenario. Nearly three years have passed since the original leak, and in that time, Insomniac may have completely changed priorities, pushed back deadlines, or even restarted development of Venom.

So, for now, all we can talk about is the following: Marvel’s Venom is still alive and in the works, according to an insider, but sony And Insomniac has yet to confirm development facts, platforms, plot or release date. If the project does remain in the studio’s plans, the first official details could emerge after Marvel’s Wolverine hits theaters.
