Shortly before its planned release on September 24, 2026, Finnish development studio Remedy Entertainment is allaying fan concerns about technical compromises. As confirmed by senior level designer Arhi Makkonen in an interview with professional media, the action role-playing game “Control Resonant” on current consoles will have a classic setting with two graphics options. In addition to a quality mode that focuses on visual detail, players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X can also look forward to a smooth performance mode of 60 frames per second. Achieving this performance target on the in-house Northlight engine is a technical statement, considering the dramatic transition from the harsh, brutal environment of the Oldest House to the sprawling, destructible exterior of supernaturally devastated Manhattan.
The confirmation of the frame rate comes as a relief to the community, as it is well known that Remedy games such as Alan Wake 2 have placed extremely high demands on console hardware in the past. At this time, the developers have not disclosed which resolution scaling and reconstruction method is used to maintain a stable 60 FPS in performance mode on standard consoles.
However, doubling the frame rate should result in clear gameplay advantages, especially in the dynamic melee combat with protagonist Dylan Faden and the complex particle effects of the abnormally shape-shifting weapons.
The look of Sony’s platform remains particularly exciting: Makkonen stresses that Control Resonant is also optimized specifically for PlayStation 5 Pro and runs well (“runs well”) at the hardware’s peak performance. The studio has yet to reveal specific key figures for native resolution, frame rate, or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) usage, but promised to provide further technical specifications in the coming weeks.
With over 1.5 million wishlist entries on digital platforms, Remedy is heading towards its most ambitious release yet. The official confirmation of 60 frames per second eases concerns that switching to a more open area design might slow down the console’s frame rate.
