Together with the new iPhone 18 Pro and the foldable iPhone Duo, Apple has released a new generation of wireless headphones, AirPods 5, which feature an improved active noise cancellation system, improved internal design and greater autonomy.

According to Apple, AirPods 5 can eliminate up to 50% of ambient noise compared to AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation thanks to a new multi-port acoustic architecture and improved audio processing algorithms, and also gets an improved transparency mode for more natural reproduction of speech and ambient sounds.
An updated acoustic architecture and improved adaptive equalizer deliver richer, more detailed sound for a wider range of ear shapes.
AirPods 5 basic version starts at $129. The $149 version comes with a protective case that supports wireless charging and uses pressure sensors for touch-sensitive volume control on the earbuds, and has longer battery life.
Both AirPods 5 models support Adaptive Audio (dynamically adjust transparency and ANC based on environmental conditions) and Conversation Sensing (lower playback volume when the user starts speaking). It also supports instant translation when paired with a compatible iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled.
Older models offer up to 5 hours of listening time with noise cancellation enabled (or up to 22 hours, taking into account case charging); the case itself supports charging via USB-C as well as Apple Watch and Qi chargers.
