With the launch of iPhone Duo, Apple officially entered the foldable smartphone market. The new product features two displays, an A20 Pro processor, and becomes the most expensive iPhone in the company’s history.
One of the main tasks for Apple engineers is to eliminate the noticeable crease in the central part of the flexible screen. The company used a new display design and a special nano-texture coating. The body of the device is made from titanium and ceramic fiber reinforced materials.
Thanks to the 5.4-inch external screen, the folded iPhone Duo can be used like a regular smartphone. When opened, users have access to a flexible 7.6-inch display – the largest screen on any Apple smartphone. Both displays support ProMotion technology, with peak brightness up to 3,000 nits.
Inside there’s an A20 Pro processor and a proprietary Apple C2 modem. The evaporation chamber is used for cooling. The main camera includes two 48-megapixel modules, with a front-facing camera located below the internal display. This foldable smartphone does not use the common Face ID, but has Touch ID built into the side button.
iPhone Duo’s large screen is also designed for multitasking: iOS 27 lets you use multiple apps at the same time and adapts the interface to the folded and unfolded states of the device. This smartphone also supports Apple Pencil.
iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the United States. Pre-orders will begin on October 16, with general sales starting on October 23, 2026. Therefore, the first foldable iPhone will be available in stores in about a month from the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
