Battlefield developer REDSEC has announced major updates to its competitive scene and content plans for the coming months. The season will kick off with a series of Open Cash Cups (September 19-October 10) with a total prize pool of $150,000, before a Qualifying Open Series will pick up the baton and pave the way into the Elite Division.
The main event of the winter season will be the fifth season of the Elite Series (running from December to January), with 48 teams from each region competing for a global prize pool of up to $1,338,000. In addition to eSports battles, players can also look forward to important game innovations: Proximity Chat (spatial voice communication) will appear in the battle royale on September 15, and the acceleration mode Rapid Royale will debut in the fifth season.
