As part of the current Nintendo Direct, there’s an unexpected announcement for fans of the complex open-world RPG. Medieval epic Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is coming to Nintendo’s new console hardware, as announced by Warhorse Studios and Deep Silver.
The publication is adapted exclusively for the platform and is titled “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Royal Edition”. In addition to the main game, this pack includes all expansions and add-ons. While the original Nintendo Switch’s debut was considered a technological marvel, the Switch 2’s performance should allow for a smoother rendering of the 15th-century bohemian setting. The port is scheduled to be released in 2027.
The sequel continues the story of Heinrich von Scalitz, the son of a blacksmith, and the game world is significantly expanded compared to the previous game. With an expanded combat system, historical cities such as Kutna Hora, and more sophisticated simulations of non-player characters, the game is considered one of the most complex role-playing game titles in recent years. The fact that the game is now also being used on Nintendo’s portable console architecture highlights the manufacturer’s technological development.
Porting the first installment to previous hardware required an extremely complex adaptation by Saber Interactive. For Royal Edition on Nintendo Switch 2, however, the developer promises significantly more stable frame rates and optimized load times. By integrating all expansions and add-ons at the start of sales, Nintendo owners get a comprehensive total package without having to rely on additional purchases later.
With the 2027 release window approaching, the development team has given themselves plenty of time to carefully adjust the complex engine architecture to the specifications of mobile hardware. The confirmation also highlights a growing trend of third-party manufacturers porting major action role-playing games to Nintendo’s new generation of platforms.
