According to the latest data from the Steam Hardware Survey, the Radeon RX 9070 XT has become the most popular AMD graphics card on the Steam gaming platform. In August, 1.46% of platform users said they had used the card. In July, its share on the platform was 1.40%, and in June it was 1.35%.

Now, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is significantly more popular than the Radeon RX 6600, which previously held the title of most popular AMD graphics card on Steam. The latter’s share fell from 0.87% to 0.85% in August. The recent Radeon RX 9060 XT almost caught it with a share of 0.82%.
The Radeon RX 9070 XT model was also more popular than some older Nvidia GeForce graphics cards in August. For example, the user share of the same RTX 3080 on the platform is 1.38% (0.08 percentage points lower than the RX 9070 XT). The GeForce GTX 1660 Super model has a user share of 1.47%, which is only slightly higher than the RX 9070 XT. At the same time, the older models of the Blackwell series are still more popular. The user shares of RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti on the platform are 1.71% and 1.82% respectively.
Nvidia’s mainstream Blackwell generation graphics cards are still more popular than AMD’s solutions. The RTX 5070 accounts for 3.77% of the number of users, followed by the RTX 5060 (accounting for 3.16% of the number of users) and RTX 5060 Ti (accounting for 2.55% of the number of users). So the RTX 5070 alone is almost three times as popular as the RX 9070 XT, at least according to Steam statistics. Radeon RX 9000 models without the XT prefix on the platform are uncommon. The same Radeon RX 9070 user accounted for 0.20%.
Valve fixed the graphics card recognition mechanism based on the RDNA 4 architecture a few months ago as part of a hardware investigation, so the results now should be more representative. The statistics show the RX 9070 XT, RX 9070 and RX 9060 XT models respectively.
