In May 2026, Finalmouse launched the Starlight X mouse with hybrid mechanical optical switches. According to the manufacturer, she “Demonstrating the lowest latency of any gaming mouse we’ve tested and the fastest button input we’ve recorded in a consumer electronics device.” The new product is based on the new TMR two-state hybrid sensor.

Finalmouse uses its own XLat tester to measure the time it takes from the moment the mouse switch contact electrically closes until the USB packet enters the system. However, this is only part of the picture, as the time it takes for the entity to press the button until the contacts close is also important. Logitech focused on reducing this phase when launching the G Pro X2 Superstrike, claiming a 15-30 millisecond reduction in click latency.
By using copper tape on the mouse button surface, combined with an XLat tester and a specially designed device to simulate human finger clicks, Finalmouse can accurately simulate the end-to-end delay of the process, as close as possible to the actual human mouse button press situation.
Finalmouse compared pre-production samples of its Starlight X mouse to the Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike, Razer Viper V4 Pro, and Endgame Gear OP1 8K V2. If we only consider the delay from switch activation to packet reception, the last mouse performed better in the Finalmouse test. However, it lacks the latency-reducing advantages of hybrid mechanical optical switches. The measurement results are as follows:
- Razer Viper V4 Pro — 7.5 ms;
- Endgame Gear OP1 8K V2 — 5,7 мс;
- Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike — 3 мс;
- Starlight X – 2 ms.

Mice with hybrid mechanical light switches responded faster than models with traditional mechanical switches, based on an average of 50 test clicks. Finalmouse emphasizes that its Starlight X is faster than the Superlight. This result is obviously achieved thanks to TMR technology, which allows you to register clicks earlier during a button press than Superlight’s minimum response threshold.
On the one hand, the 3-5ms gain means half the latency compared to fast models without TMR hybrid switches. On the other hand, even professional gamers’ reaction times don’t go below 100 milliseconds. Therefore, the true usefulness of this click-to-register acceleration is difficult to assess.
