Microsoft has decided to listen to long-standing user complaints and take basic Windows 11 optimizations seriously. IFA exhibition Mark Linton, the company’s vice president of Windows and devices, confirmed that developers are preparing a series of large-scale improvements aimed at speeding up system loading, improving authorization response times through Windows Hello, and operating the operating system comfortably on devices with only 8 GB of RAM.
One of the key tools for improving performance is extending the low-latency profile mechanism to third-party software. This feature has previously shown itself in the built-in applications of Redmond residents – short-term “overclocking” of the processor to the peak frequency for 1-3 seconds can speed up the startup speed of Edge and Outlook by about 40%. Now, other everyday programs will experience similar smoothness improvements, which will be especially noticeable for users with modest specs.
In addition, the company’s engineers are working to reduce the RAM requirements of the operating system so that basic laptops and entry-level office computers no longer feel suffocated by multitasking. Optimization is expected to be fully deployed in the next version of Windows 11.
