At the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard finally confirmed rumors that have been circulating in the community for many years: this long-awaited project in the spirit of Classic + is officially named “World of Warcraft: Forever” and will be available on November 4 this year (beta testing will begin next week, September 17). Executive producer Holly Longdale describes the project as “friendly, familiar, yet brand new.”
concept world of warcraft forever is to lock the game into the level 60 bubble of the original’s first year while injecting new content into classic Azeroth. The developers have planned three new areas (where the new race “Sky Elves” will settle), renovations of old locations, more than a thousand new quests, nine dungeons, a battlefield “Senepe Islands” (Darkspear Islands) and two tracks for groups of 10 and 20 people. The project aims to return players to the atmosphere of the classic journey without the endless race for add-ons.
What do you think of the idea of creating a separate “eternal” version of classic World of Warcraft with new content? Are you planning to return to Azeroth from 2004?
