Following the surprise announcement of Diablo 5 at BlizzCon 2026, the developer has shared the first details about the upcoming action RPG’s gameplay and class makeup. Game director Joe Sheley confirmed that when the game launches in 2029, it will offer a record number of courses in the series’ history.
In addition to the returning demon hunters and monks from previous games, the game will also introduce a new and extremely dark profession – the Plague Knight. According to the author, this is a heavily armored warrior who spreads disease around himself and absorbs the energy of others’ deaths to increase his own strength.

Even more surprising is the fact that real treasure goblins will join the convoy, promising new ways to deal with one of the series’ most iconic foes.
Additionally, the team shared key changes to product design concepts inspired by iconic products Diablo 2. The developers are promising hundreds of hours to make loot more “readable, memorable, and valuable,” as well as a return to a classic system where large items took up more space in the inventory, restoring the previous importance of proper management of items.
