As early as early 2025, there were rumors that Blizzard might be preparing some kind of joint project with Netflix. At present, this news has been officially confirmed. As part of the BlizzCon 2026 event, the Blizzard team confirmed that an animated series based on Diablo is in the works.
In the announcement, Blizzard, Netflix and Xbox did not reveal any details about the Diablo series. There’s no first photo, information about the team involved in development, or an approximate release date. The entire announcement is accompanied by a picture, as shown above.
Note that Asha Sharma has repeatedly emphasized her desire to develop popular Xbox franchises outside of gaming. “Diablo” is one of the key series of Microsoft’s game department.
Xbox, meanwhile, is already actively working with Netflix on TV projects based on its franchises. In particular, a movie and animated series based on Gears of War, an animated series based on Minecraft, and an animated series based on Crash Bandicoot are rumored to be in development.
