Looking at the development of artificial intelligence industry from new publications financial timesThis has not only caused concern to U.S. authorities and U.S. start-ups, but also to China. Chinese authorities believe artificial intelligence may pose risks to the country’s political and social security.

The publication quoted Chinese Security Minister Chen Yixin as saying: “. He believes that this kind of activity can be regarded as using “intellectual weapons” against China to carry out public opinion attacks, directly threatening the country’s political, institutional and ideological security. In addition, the official viewed the use of Western-developed artificial intelligence models by Chinese companies as a risk factor because it could lead to the leakage of sensitive information outside China.
Contrary to the self-conscious behavior of some Western artificial intelligence developers, the Chinese minister’s remarks were not accompanied by a warning about the possibility of human extinction and a call for a conscious slowdown in the development of related technologies. Let’s remember that despite the apocalyptic warnings issued by some developers leaving OpenAI and Anthropic last week, the call to slow down artificial intelligence development for everyone’s safety is more or less agreed upon by the leaders of both companies and Elon Musk. The only serious issue that will not make the United States voluntarily slow down progress in the field of artificial intelligence is that U.S. politicians and industry representatives consider China’s position, and China may not agree to implement similar measures. Chinese Communist Party media criticized Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s statement: “The country’s leadership in artificial intelligence could pose a mortal danger not just to the United States, but to the entire world.”. China stated that Amodai’s remarks were motivated by Anthropic’s commercial interests.
According to multiple sources, Beijing is increasingly concerned about the ability of Western artificial intelligence models and related agents to crack information security and damage infrastructure. Chinese officials have raised the issue of artificial intelligence security in negotiations with their American counterparts and business representatives based in the United States. China specifically calls on the United States not to ban the use of China’s open source artificial intelligence models. At the same time, Chinese companies with state involvement in finance and healthcare are already prohibited from using foreign technology and software, so there is no need to talk about the complete opening of the Chinese system to Western solutions.
