In a recent interview with TechRadar Gaming at Gamescom, Total War: Warhammer 40,000’s developers – combat producer Dave Petrie and lead designer Joy Day – shared details about the mass customization system. From the beginning, the creators were committed to translating the fervent spirit of the tabletop game into a video game format so that fans could tell their own stories within a forty thousand-year universe.
According to the author, the game will not only feature deep upgrades and specialization of units during the campaign (for example, turning an ordinary intercessor into an elite killer through weapon selection), but also complete visual customization. Additionally, the developers integrated authentic Games Workshop color palettes into the project, allowing players to accurately recreate their hand-painted miniatures directly on the virtual battlefield. The global strategy is planned for release in 2027 for PC and current generation consoles.
