Game Freak, best known for the Pokémon series, has announced a new mobile game called Sky no Usagi. The project will be distributed for free and will be released in winter 2026, but only in Japan. It’s unclear if it will be released in global markets.
Ame no Chi Hare Onna is an unusual action RPG where real weather will be part of the gameplay. The project is synchronized with weather forecasts across Japan, with weather conditions affecting what happens in the game. Game Freak has released key art and the first trailer, showcasing the game’s world and its characters.
Events will unfold in modern Japan. The main character is Harawatari Himawari, known as Hareonna. She is a witch who can turn weather into strength and uplift people. Her partner is Yunlin, the messenger of the gods who gives the heroine powers.
“Pokémon” is directed and produced by “Pokémon” series director and “Pokémon Pokopia” concept director Shigeru Ohmori. The game is developed by Game Freak in collaboration with CHRONOGATE, with its director Katsutaka Suginaka serving as script director.
Developers to reveal first details about Ame no Chi Hare Onna at special event broadcastwill start at 13:00 Moscow time on September 14th. The broadcast will star Shigeru Omori, Hiyori Kono and Yuki Nagano, and will be hosted by weather forecaster Airi Yamagishi. In the first part, they will talk about the history of the creation and the game world, and in the second part, the participants will be joined by voice actors. The team will also present booth content at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which opens on September 17.
