Sega and Netflix plan three new adaptations of the gaming company’s well-known franchises: the movie “Crazy Taxi,” the “Weirdos in Paradise” movie and the animated series “Sonic.”
SEGA is gearing up for multiple cross-media ventures, with a variety of new adaptations based on some of its historic franchises coming soon Netflix: we are talking about Taxi and Strangers in Paradise movies, plus a new Sonic the Hedgehog animated series.
The Taxi movie will be written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mann, who also helmed the Naked Gun reboot, while production has been entrusted to Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Toby Asher, working with Sega’s Toru Nakahara.
As for Strangers in Paradise, there’s no firm word yet, other than that it will always be produced in partnership with Sega’s Nakahara and Netflix.

The operation is part of Sega’s plan Relaunches of various historic franchisesclearly not strictly in the video game realm, and intended to enhance the company’s vast intellectual property portfolio.

Sega producer Toru Nakahara added: “Look forward to something cute and cool with Sonic, funny and crazy with Crazy Taxi, and tough action with Strangers from Paradise, because we’ve got some amazing ideas and we’re just getting started. The whole team is super excited!”
As for video games, Taxi World Tour is expected to launch in 2027, and we recently talked about it during a weekend test in multiplayer testing. Today we also have a review of Strangers from Paradise and a trailer introducing Yu Shinjo, while for Sonic we await any new news.
