The leader in the artificial intelligence market is talking about self-restraint after a series of security incidents and criticism from former employees. Anthropic head Dario Amodei proposed an initiative to “slow down” the pace of artificial intelligence development, which was immediately supported by OpenAI’s Sam Altman and Elon Musk (xAI). Such decisions have affected companies’ business plans: in particular, OpenAI decided to postpone its IPO to focus on security issues.
Amoudi’s three-phase plan includes allowing independent experts to access confidential security reports, harmonizing standards among democracies and developing a global agreement at the international level.
Anthroposophical representatives also called on the U.S. government to tighten chip export controls and conduct mandatory testing of models before release. While there have been calls to slow down the pace for a year or two to minimize risks, developers stressed the need to maintain a balance so as not to lose their leadership position to geopolitical rivals.

The reason was cited as the risk of recursive self-improvement, but critics also argued it was an attempt to protect the positions of key players.
