The second season of Marked Seasons in Apex Legends has begun, and the developers decided to address several pain points at once. Players can expect legendary balance changes, more healing items and ammo, and a serious buff against dishonest peripherals.
Ahead of the start of the second half of the season, Respawn implemented a new system to detect banned controller hardware and programs. These checks apply to PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2, with the console version not offering immunity. The developers have been testing the system for several months and promise to continue improving it as new ways to bypass protections emerge. Upon verification, violators will be subject to penalties including banning of the highest level players.
At the same time, the team made adjustments to the mining system. Healing, ammo, survival items, and boosters will appear in containers more frequently, and weapon assists now cover all available weapons, rather than just the limited pistols, shotguns, and alternators. It looks like the days of finding a health pack halfway across the map have been pushed back a bit.
In the end, the developers fixed more than 150 maps. World’s Edge was particularly hard hit: holes in the geometry, collision issues, random places where lore and loot were “absorbed”, and several of the famous rat spots were removed. At the same time, we fixed some issues with Alter Ultimate.
