Ahead of ARC Raiders releasing a major Frozen update in October, project executive director Alexander Gröndal has shared new details about the fate of the Expedition endgame mode. Previously, Embark Studios had only announced a temporary hiatus and a return to the system with major improvements in early 2027, but in an interview at Gamescom, the developer admitted that the mode may be scrapped entirely.
According to Grøndahl, the team is carefully studying community feedback and considering any options – from in-depth rules changes to completely abandoning the expedition system in its current form. Final decisions on future modes will be made after the fall update is fully released frozen trailwhich will bring new maps and major advancement reforms to the game.
