Wardogs, the blockbuster multiplayer tactical shooter from Bulkhead and Team17, has already made more money than Bungie’s (Sony-owned) evacuation action thriller Marathon in its first week on Steam Early Access.

Let us remind you that Wardogs sold over 2 million copies in its first 5 days of Early Access on Steam, and at its peak, the new title attracted over 428,000 concurrent players (see entry steam database).
Calculated based on analysis agency Alina analysisWardogs was purchased more than 2.2 million times in one week. In terms of sales, the “Bulkhead” project leads “Arc Raiders” (1.7 million in the same period) and “Helldivers 2” (1 million).

According to Alinea Analytics, in the same week of early access, Wardogs has generated more revenue for Team17 and Bulkhead than Marathon has generated in six and a half months on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S.
“This is yet another reminder that in the gaming services industry, community is more important than budgets and big names.”“,” said Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics.

Whether Wardogs will be able to retain players and attract new ones is a big question, but even if Team17 and Bulkhead don’t sell a single copy, the project has been a huge success for the partners.
Wardogs releases into early access on September 10th steam (not in Russia) and received “very positive” reviews (81%). The game’s success will see Bulkhead avoid annual redundancies for the first time in six years.
