Respawn conducted another competitive integrity test in Apex Legends and issued Predator Level penalties to 258 players. They both received 60-day bans for using someone else’s account to advance in the rating table.
The investigation began after players reported suspiciously long stretches of play in ranked matches. The anti-fraud team examined the login history and device data of premium accounts and found instances of access from multiple different devices, which is characteristic of account transfers. The inspection involved console players: 115 penalties occurred on PlayStation and 143 on Xbox.
On PlayStation 92, players moved accounts frequently, with two of them using their accounts on at least five devices, and 21 other offenders falling into both categories. On Xbox, the ratios are 124 players, 2 players, and 17 players respectively. In addition to the 60-day ban, all violators will have their points revoked.
Respawn has independently reviewed reports of alleged players being erroneously banned from Bot Royale. The developer re-checked the account pointed out by the community and stated that all verified penalties were issued correctly. The team promises to continue to monitor ranked play to ensure the Predator standings reflect the results of those who have actually earned a spot.
