Creative Assembly has announced a new mechanic for Alien: Isolation 2 that will expand on the original game. The action in the sequel will take place not only in tight quarters, but also in open areas throughout the colony, where players must take into account the environment and other survivors.
One of the important variables is weather. Rain reduces visibility and mutes the sounds of approaching aliens, but it works both ways: Players may also not hear the predator until the very last moment. Conversely, during a thunderstorm, lightning will reveal the hero’s location.
The developers stress that Alien will not “cheat” and will only be able to see or hear players under the right conditions. At the same time, weather effects create new tactical situations and increase the tension when exploring open locations.
Alien: Isolation 2 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. A release date has not yet been announced.
