The developer of “Apex Legends” arranged an unexpected meeting with “Street Fighter 6”. In the new event, players will be able to turn ordinary matches into something resembling a fighting game, using the legendary character’s fighting style to throw hakens and shurikens at their opponents.
The main change is in wildcard mode. Here you can pick up your fighter gear and choose from four styles: Ryu, Chun-Li, Akuma or Dhalsim. Each of them provides passive abilities, tactical skills, and ultimate abilities based on the corresponding fighter’s moves in Street Fighter 6. So now Apex Legends has another way to explain why a firefight suddenly turns into a melee.
During matches, players will be able to collect special tokens and fill up the battle gauge. Once accumulated, Fighter Form will unlock – a third-person mode with enhanced melee attack, blocking, speed and damage resistance. In addition, the tactical abilities and ultimate abilities of the selected fighter equipment are also available in this form.
The battle takes place on a redesigned Mount Olympus, similar in style to Street Fighter 6. Luke’s training room, Blanca’s balloon, statues, arcade machines and other themed details appear on the map. Rounding out the event are eight new iconic skins that transform Apex Legends legends into fighting game characters. These include Sparrow as Ryu, Alter as Chun-Li, Gibraltar as Akuma, and Pathfinder as Dhalsim.
Another noteworthy reward is for collectors – the fabulous universal melee item Hadoken, which comes with a themed death box. In hindsight, even regular loot in Apex Legends serves as a reminder that the most important thing in a good fighting game is hitting your opponents effectively.
