IDC company summarized the results Research on the global enterprise storage market in the second quarter of this year. Sales of such equipment reached $10.3 billion, an increase of 33.6% from revenue of $7.74 billion in the same period in 2025.
The main driver of the industry remains the boom in artificial intelligence. Amid the rapid expansion of data center infrastructure, there is a shortage of NAND flash memory chips, which has led to higher prices for SSD-based storage systems as well as other types of equipment (hybrid and HDD). As a result, the size (in monetary terms) of the overall storage systems market increases.
All-flash arrays brought in $5.4 billion in revenue in the second quarter of 2026, up 42.9% from the same period last year: the share of such systems reached 52.1% of the total market. Hybrid solutions provided $3.9 billion, accounting for 37.5% of revenue, up 25.5% year over year. HDD systems accounted for $1.1 billion (10.4%), an increase of 22.6% compared to the second quarter of 2025.

Sales of high-efficiency systems (costing more than $250,000) surged 90.6% during the year to $2.7 billion, accounting for 26.2% of the total. Systems in the mid-price range ($25,000 to $250,000) brought in $6.7 billion, or 64.8% of total revenue: demand for this type of equipment increased by 28.2%. In contrast, sales of entry-level systems (less than $25,000) fell 14.6% to $900 million, with a 9% share.
From a geographical perspective, growth was seen in all regions. The United States dominates, accounting for 35.3% of global revenue, or $3.6 billion (up 26.8% year-on-year). Canada became the fastest growing region with an increase of 77.2%, with final sales reaching US$239.6 million. The Asia-Pacific region (excluding China and Japan) increased by 73.1% year-on-year (to US$1.1 billion), and the Central and Eastern Europe region increased by 54.1% year-on-year (to US$240.4 million). Latin America’s growth rate was 48%, and the Middle East and Africa’s growth rate was 35.1%. Western Europe increased by 42.8% (to $1.9 billion). In China, sales increased by 20.7% to US$2.2 billion; in Japan, sales increased by 12.9% to US$302.6 million.
The largest supplier of enterprise storage systems is still Dell Technologies, with a market share of 23.8% and revenue of US$2.46 billion in the second quarter of this year. Huawei ranked second with 11.3% and US$1.17 billion, and NetApp ranked third with 9.6% and US$988.4 million. Rounding out the top five are Everpure (8.1%) ($837.7 million) and HPE (6.8% ($700.2 million)).
