The ninth installment in the cult horror series Resident Evil Requiem continues to set financial records for Capcom. According to recent estimates from analysts at Alinea Analytics, the project has grossed more than $500 million, making it the fastest-selling installment in the series’ history.
As expected, the main platform for the game is the PlayStation 5 console, with a circulation of 4 million copies and 30% of players choosing physical media.
Meanwhile, the recent successful remake of the Zach Cregger movie grossed over $108 million in its opening weekend, but didn’t actually increase sales of the game itself. A bigger incentive to buy is the frequent in-game discounts the publisher offers shortly before the movie premieres.
