While major studios are mass-delaying premieres to other months in an attempt to avoid Rockstar Games’ major release of the decade, the publisher of strategy game Blacksmith decided to take a chance.
The full release of Medieval Blacksmith Simulator is planned for the same day as the global craze for crime blockbusters begins. The company’s management is confident that there is little overlap between the audience for PC strategy and fans of mainframe action movies, so nothing will be lost from the calendar proximity.
Many developers are literally afraid of keeping up with industry giants, which is why the fall release schedule is overloaded on other days. According to the publisher, creators of modestly independent projects should not succumb to widespread fears if their target audience prefers completely different genres and platforms. It will soon become clear how justified this bold move by the authors is in practice.
