Capcom’s iconic horror series continues to rack up impressive sales figures. Between mid-2025 and mid-2026, six projects in the series simultaneously exceeded the sales mark of 3 million copies. Success ranges from modern reimaginings of classics to relatively older games that continue to captivate audiences around the world.
According to the latest report from reporter Stephen Totillo, the best-selling version is the “Resident Evil 4” remake released in 2023, with more than 5 million buyers in just one year. During the same period, “Resident Evil: Village” sold 3.6 million copies, while the older version of “Resident Evil: Resident Evil” added another 3 million copies to the publisher’s financial department.
The second and third reimaginings of the series also performed well, each selling over 4 million copies. Even older versions such as “Resident Evil 6” on last-generation consoles can exceed 500,000 copies.
The Nintendo Switch portable version alone and releases such as “Resident Evil: Revelations” did not perform well, with circulations of no more than 300,000 copies.
Future releases from the publisher will further build on the success of the series. A remake of Resident Evil Veronica is in development and scheduled for release in the next fiscal year, which should hopefully keep player interest high.
