Kat Bowie from Scotland, known online as Grumpygran1948, has officially become the oldest female anchor of “Fortress Heroes” in the Guinness Book of Records. She started playing the battle royale game in 2017 during the first week after the mode was released.
Bowie was introduced to the game by her teenage grandson, who decided no one would watch his grandmother play Fortnite. To Kate, this sounded more like a challenge than a suggestion. She started live streaming and before long, she had over 24,000 subscribers. Now, the 78-year-old record holder streams every day on YouTube and Twitch and plays with people from all over the world.
This achievement has been noticed by Epic Games, who are calling Bowie the real “GOAT”. The streamer himself prefers Zero Build and considers Fortnite to be a completely suitable game: here you can fight your opponents without gore and unnecessary cruelty. Judging from her story, however, Kate’s primary weapon was not a shotgun at all, but a vain attempt to prove to her grandson that he had underestimated his grandmother.
