Star Wars: Galaxy Racer, the multiplayer competition from Fuse Games and Secret Mode, is set to release on October 6, 2026, but if you want to check it out, IGN has released over 20 minutes of gameplay recorded on a PlayStation 5 Pro, which they’re calling “Quick and explosive”.
Following the first impressions came a full review, with Metacritic giving the game an 88.
Star Wars: Galaxy Racer is not only one of the best racing games I’ve played all year, it’s one of the best racing games I’ve ever played. Once you complete the campaign, it will likely go down as one of my favorite racing games of all time.

Star Wars: Galaxy Racer does its job brilliantly. It’s a fast-paced racing game that’s a lot of fun and looks stunning. Even the standard single-player mode would be great, but the options available here are original and exciting. I would have liked to see some more interesting classic characters and a planet or two, but this is a game I’ll be returning to for a long time.

Every moment passes quickly and happily. Every decision comes with tension. Every game is a valuable opportunity to learn, improve, experiment and adapt, regardless of ultimate success or failure. I’m looking forward to continuing to play this game, it’s been my favorite racing game in years.
GameSpot (90 points)
Galaxy Racer is a Star Wars game, which may be enough for some, but not for me. Luckily, it’s also a great racing game, filled with tracks, car building options, and characters to keep me coming back to the track for another race.
Game Informer (88 points)
Star Wars: Galaxy Racer brings the chaos and destruction of 2000s arcade racing into the modern era, delivering fast-paced, thrilling racing that’s perfect for conversational gameplay and roguelike elements.

As a way to refresh the racing game format, Galaxy Racer’s race-based structure proved more successful than Burnout’s open world.
