Blizzard has unexpectedly released update 5.0.17 for StarCraft 2 to test servers, almost completely canceling the controversial summer patch 5.0.16. Let’s remember that the May update revolutionized the usual esports meta, reducing the number of starting workers from 12 to 8 and changing the economy for the first time since the add-on was released in 2015.
After months of heated debate and criticism from players, the developers acknowledged these excesses and decided to return the game to a stable state with patch 5.0.15. Still, the team promises to take the experience gained into account, and is already working on new changes that will take into account useful discoveries like improved unit navigation and changes to Vipers, but won’t have such a drastic impact.
