As the world’s second largest supplier of foldable smartphones, Huawei is not only not afraid of Apple’s competition, but has even welcomed the emergence of iPhone Duo. The company says it has sold around 100,000 units of its expensive tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT 2, since mid-September.

This was discussed at a press conference on Tuesday report Yu Chengdong, head of Huawei’s consumer business, has disclosed the current status of the smartphone market and the role of the brand’s new products in it. As noted the day before, the Chinese company expects to increase the total launch of the Mate XT 2 to 1 million units, which is quite a lot for an expensive device with a three-door specific layout. In addition to the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions, Huawei is also expected to bring Mate XT 2 to the European market.
Turning to Logic Folding technology, which allows Huawei to develop and bring to market processors that rival the flagships of Western rivals from three years ago, company representatives admitted that China does not have access to EUV technology and is therefore forced to rely on other solutions to ensure progress. At the same time, Huawei’s partners in this field have sufficient production capacity to meet the demand for wafers produced using the Logic Folding method.
Huawei management is more worried about memory shortages and price increases, which have led to a sharp decline in the company’s business profitability. It will inevitably raise the prices of its products in the future, although it will try to keep price increases modest. “The company cannot operate at a loss, we must survive and face difficulties together.” – Yu Chengdong tries to defend the coming price increase.
Along the way, he pointed out that Huawei is not afraid that Apple’s first foldable smartphone is about to enter the market. “In fact, we are very excited about the US competitor’s iPhone Duo. Healthy competition can encourage more users to choose foldable products.” – Richard Yu explains.
He recalled that the release of the iPhone Duo had led to a 76% increase in sales of a similar smartphone, the Huawei Pura X Max. Since its announcement in April this year, it has successfully found 1.4 million buyers. Apple will start shipping foldable iPhone Duo to customers before October 23 this year.
