$7,300 per liter of AI power: sales of AMD Ryzen AI Halo mini-PC on the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 chip have started

AMD has priced the reference Ryzen AI Halo mini-PC at $7,299.99—almost twice the price of its predecessor. A new product based on Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 (Gorgon Halo) has already gone on sale in American retail. The platform for developers is made in a case with a volume of just over a liter and is equipped with 192 GB of unified LPDDR5X-8533 memory and a solid-state drive with a capacity of 2 TB.

As VideoCardz writes, the system appeared in the assortment of the American Micro Center network. There is a version with a pre-installed Linux OS, which can be purchased directly from brick-and-mortar stores. Availability confirmed at select US retail locations. AMD is also bringing support for Windows 11 on Ryzen AI Halo. A configuration with a pre-installed Microsoft Project Zenith development environment is expected to be released later.

AMD announced the improved platform for developers in May, initially planning to release it in the third quarter of 2026. The new version replaces the model with the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor (Strix Halo). The key differences between them are support for up to 192 GB of faster memory instead of 128 GB, as well as an increase in CPU and integrated GPU clock speeds by 100 MHz. The reference platform based on Ryzen AI Max+ 395 was released in June at a price of $3999.99, that is, the new system was $3300 more expensive.

The Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor is equipped with 16 Zen 5 cores (32 threads) with a clock speed of up to 5.2 GHz. The integrated Radeon 8065S GPU features 40 RDNA 3.5 Compute Units and an XDNA 2 Neural Processing Unit (NPU) delivering up to 55 TOPS performance. According to AMD, the computing power of the graphics core in FP16 operations reaches 61 TFLOPS at a TDP level of 120 W.

The system is equipped with 192 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory with a bandwidth of 273 GB/s. AMD provides the ability to allocate up to 160 GB for the needs of the graphics subsystem, which allows you to run artificial intelligence models with more than 300 billion parameters at 4-bit quantization. Other characteristics of the AMD Ryzen AI Halo mini-PC include a 2 TB self-encrypting M.2 SSD, a network interface with data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps, support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and an HDMI 2.1b video output.

Ryzen AI Halo remains AMD’s reference system for on-premises AI development and supports the ROCm stack, as well as tools such as PyTorch, Ollama, llama.cpp and LM Studio. The 192 GB memory configuration gives developers more resources to run large models locally, although the updated processor retains the same configuration (16 CPU cores and 40 GPU compute units) from the previous model.
