The Fitbit Edge is equipped with an elongated AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Its area is 46% larger than that of the Fitbit Charge 6. The thickness of the aluminum body is 11.5 mm. On the right side there is a physical control button. The device complies with IP68 and 5 ATM dust and water protection standards.

Google claims the updated GPS tracks routes up to 40% more accurately than the Charge 6 and includes an altimeter to track elevation changes. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor, skin temperature sensor and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) sensor. Electrical sensors allow you to record an electrocardiogram.

The Exercise app supports more than 50 types of workouts. The AI-based activity recognition system is capable of identifying more than 100 types of activities even without manually starting a recording. The data flows into Google Health, where a personal trainer with Gemini technology helps create workout plans and analyze results. To work as a trainer, you need a Google Health Premium subscription. When purchasing a bracelet, three free months of subscription are provided. Available features vary by country.

According to Google, the bracelet lasts up to seven days without recharging when the Always-on Display mode is turned off. If the screen is constantly on, battery life is reduced to about two days. A five-minute charge will provide another day of use, and a full charge takes about 90 minutes. Unlike previous Fitbit fitness bands, this one comes with a replaceable battery. Google warns that DIY repairs require electronics skills.

Fitbit Edge displays notifications from your smartphone, lets you control music playback, and supports Google Maps navigation. It works with Android 11 and later, and iPhones running iOS 16.4 and later. Unlike Fitbit Charge 6, the new model lacks an NFC module and does not support contactless payment via Google Wallet.

Google will offer four designs – Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Canyon – with interchangeable straps. A special version created with the participation of basketball player Stephen Curry will cost $219.99. In May, Google released the Fitbit Air fitness tracker without a screen for $99.
