In an interview with the GamesRadar+ portal dedicated to the tenth anniversary of space simulator No Man’s Sky, Hello Games studio head Sean Murray said that the scandal surrounding the game’s launch put pressure on the team for about three years.
According to the developers, it’s a running joke around the studio that every major and free update is inevitably accompanied by press material that begins with a reference to the failed launch. Murray admits that in the early years developers felt as though they were fighting an endless battle against a hostile audience. It was a sigh of relief three years later when the first articles about the update appeared in the press, without the traditional accusations of the game’s past.
Today, No Man’s Sky is considered one of the most compelling examples of a developer successfully restoring its reputation and dedication to its projects.
