A new independent study of 300 executives and developers from the US and UK, commissioned by Rokky Platform, found that 80% of Western game studios plan to release their projects in the Chinese market by 2028. The reason for this widespread interest remains the massive reach of more than 700 million players and billions of dollars in revenue.

However, investigations reveal serious gaps in Western experts’ understanding of the specific conditions in the region. Approximately 43% of respondents were concerned about collaboration barriers and strict legislative oversight, with a significant proportion of studios confused about critical on-premises infrastructure tools.
For example, less than half of the respondents can correctly identify the Chinese platform WeGame, and some developers mistakenly believe that services such as Google Ads, which are blocked in the country, are an effective way of promotion. To overcome these challenges, many companies must rely on local partners and unique licensing requirements.
