Studio Steel Balalaika admits that Broken Arrow has been significantly simplified over the past year to make it more comfortable for newcomers. Now, the developers want to reconsider this approach and return the project to its previous requirements for players.

As of patch 1.1.1 on July 30, the decision to move changes from the public test branch to the main game was personally controlled by Sergey Kuzmin, one of the studio’s founders. At the same time, the team will not only consider its own vision, but also test results, statistics and player feedback. The developers believe that promoting entry into the game should be ensured through training, clear presentation of mechanics, and high-quality matchmaking, rather than by simplifying the game itself.
Main courses are now structured around more effective units within their area of expertise and greater rewards for informed decision-making. Gameplay changes will continue to be sent to the PTE first, where the team will test lethality, tactical depth, predictability of mechanics, and balance of different ways of taking out enemies. At the same time, the studio will split its DLC release: new units, maps, and two co-op missions will appear in August, while the single-player campaign and remaining content will appear in the fall.
They don’t forget the technical aspects of the project. Performance has been improved, and campaign save and replay functionality should be added in a future update. The developers are also working on network stability and quality of life features. Kuzmin urges players to test the new models themselves on PTE before drawing conclusions.
