Sony announced that it will launch new products in the Xperia series on August 25. The company is expected to launch a new mid-range smartphone, the Xperia 10 VIII.

Last month, a new smartphone was discovered in the FCC database. The device is expected to feature a 3.5mm headphone audio jack and support quad-band LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 6. However, the FCC application did not include information about support for 5G and Wi-Fi 7, which surprised fans of the brand.
The smartphone, codenamed Sony XQ-GH54, has been spotted on Geekbench and is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and 8GB of RAM. The model number matches an early leak that first mentioned a possible Xperia 10 VIII, with Japanese publication sumahodigest claiming the model belongs to Sony’s Xperia 10 VIII. To the dismay of Reddit forum users, the new product uses the same memory and processor configuration as the previous Sony Xperia 10 VII model. If memory is clear, the company’s reluctance to update the processors raises questions given the observed shortages. Sony has done the same thing with the Xperia 10 IV and Xperia 10 V, though, adding camera updates and a few other improvements to make the new models more attractive.
Some users suggested that doing so would prevent price increases, while others felt that Sony was acting in its own spirit as always.
The Sony event will start at 11:00 local time (5:00 Moscow time).
