OpenAI has launched a new plug-in for ChatGPT that integrates with the Apple Messages service. The company noted that the new tool brings several conveniences.

One of the advantages of the new plug-in is the ability to sort, analyze and edit messages directly in correspondence with ChatGPT. The plug-in supports Codex and ChatGPT Work services, so the integrated tool can be used not only for personal purposes but also for professional activities. In one example, users asked ChatGPT to provide reply suggestions for everyone they had chatted with the previous day.
ChatGPT can delete messages on request, compose and send messages on the user’s behalf, and search message history for remote information. As expected, the feature raises some privacy concerns, but OpenAI guarantees that the plug-in will run natively on user devices, and “Do not index all messages”but does not explain what this means. The company also recommends monitoring ChatGPT activity and recommends enabling persistent confirmations before sending messages on behalf of users. Artificial intelligence will still make mistakes, and they can be costly in communications.
