CD Projekt RED officially announced the remastered version of the action role-playing game “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” at the opening ceremony of Gamescom 2026. The updated version will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 29, 2026. A native version of the game for Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on the same day.
The remaster will be a free update for owners of the original The Witcher 3. The developers promise improved graphics and performance, an updated combat system, redesigned actions and horse movement, new logo effects, improved monster behavior, and changes to the skill tree. The list of innovations also includes transformations, an expanded photo mode and new finishing moves.
Meanwhile, CD Projekt RED showed off the Songs of the Past cheat for the first time. Its activities will take place in the new Letten region, which at first glance appears to be a peaceful land of rural traditions, abundant harvests and gorgeous holidays. However, there is an unknown secret hidden behind the wealthy life of the locals. Geralt will have to face never-before-seen enemies and an ancient evil awakening.
Songs of the Past will be a paid add-on content and will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
The developers also announced that two expansion packs for The Witcher 3, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, are now free and available to all gamers. You can get them now, even before the remaster releases.
Additionally, CD Projekt RED has a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Remastered and Song of the Past expansions will be available on Battle.net on September 29th. Buyers of this add-on in the Blizzard Store will receive a special skin for Geralt from Diablo 4. More details are expected to be announced at BlizzCon in September.
