At the Gamescom 2026 event in Cologne, Germany, several global manufacturers announced plans to release new displays using Samsung Display’s 24.5-inch QD-OLED panels – the South Korean electronics giant will produce such displays independently and supply panels to partners. The 24.5-inch format is widely used among e-sports and first-person shooter game enthusiasts. The compact screen size allows players to quickly capture the entire image, which is an advantage in games that require split-second decision-making and precise control.
Samsung Display will add a 24.5-inch panel to its QD-OLED product lineup to expand its presence in the highly competitive gaming market. According to research firm Omdia, Samsung Display shipped about 2.5 million QD-OLED panels last year, accounting for nearly 75% of the market share in the field.
At Gamescom 2026, the company is hosting a marketing promotion with Capcom, Krafton and CD Projekt Red. The Capcom booth is equipped with 90 QD-OLED game monitors, and visitors can experience games such as “Onimusha: Kendo”, “Dragon’s Dogma 2: Darkness Rises”, “Pragmata”, “Street Fighter 6” and “Mega Man: Double Beyond”. Krafton demonstrated “Project Zeta”, “Age Twisters” and “Tarae: The Unbound” on an 85-inch Alienware QD-OLED display; a video introducing QD-OLED Penta Tandem technology, which is Samsung Display’s five-layer layout, was also shown here. CD Projekt Red played the trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s third installment, Song of the Past, on eight QD-OLED TVs; gameplay can also be displayed on three QD-OLED monitors.
Samsung Display’s QD-OLED technology offers 0.3 millisecond response time, deep blacks, high color purity and wide coverage due to quantum dots, the company said.
