Ilari Kuittinen, one of the founders and bosses of Housemarque, Finland’s oldest operating game studio best known for Returnal and Saros, has announced that he is leaving the team he co-founded in 1995 with creative director Garry Tikkanen.
Kuittinen entered the industry two years before Housemarque was founded, and in a third of a century the company has grown to 110 employees and became part of PlayStation Studios in 2021. He thanked his friends and colleagues and briefly outlined his plans for the future: a pause to take a breather, but not a long-term break from video games. The transition of power began early: a month ago, Sami Hakala officially succeeded Kutinen as general manager.
