The DLSS 5 neural filter will be generally released on September 3, and will be officially launched in one game – NBA 2K27 on the day of launch. If you were hoping that the official release of this filter would bring performance improvements over unofficial mods, your hopes have been dashed by NVIDIA itself.

The numbers look good, right? But no. These are the values for active x6 frame generation and DLSS upconverter in Performance mode. That is, there are only 39 real frames on the RTX 5080, and they are rendered at 1080p. Will things improve at 1440p? Yes, now the RTX 5080 can already handle 69 real frames, which can be considered a reasonable value with x2 enabled or x3 maxed out.

To clarify, the DLSS upconverter is also used here, but in “quality” mode. It’s also worth understanding that frame generation consumes a certain number of real frames, so the real base FPS here will be a few percentage points higher. Overall, the values look very similar to what we saw when testing the unofficial DLSS 5 mod, and yes, this leaked neural filter dll file is exactly the same as what we got when it was released.
