Rockstar Games has redesigned the weapon system in GTA VI to make it significantly more limited and more demanding in terms of preparation. According to material provided by journalists and influencers working on the Early Access game, the character can only carry four weapons at a time: two ranged weapons, a pistol, and a melee weapon.
The rest of the arsenal must be stored in the trunk of the car or in a shelter. This will force you to choose your gear in advance before missions, shootouts with gangs, and clashes with the police. A thrown weapon no longer disappears immediately – it remains on the ground until someone else picks it up.
These changes also affected the shoot itself. Auto-aim has been completely removed and the camera will switch to first-person view when using optical sights, although this feature can be deactivated. It will also become more difficult to walk openly on the street with a weapon in hand: passers-by will react to the threat and may call the police, so the weapon must be manually removed.
Rockstar places a special emphasis on personalization. Weapons will receive extensive visual and functional modifications, and their names will become more realistic and will indicate specific calibers and manufacturers. Lucia and Jason will have their own customization options and be able to hold weapons differently depending on their type. The weapon wheel itself is reminiscent of the mechanic in Red Dead Redemption 2, and separates weapons and items into different areas.
GTA VI will be released on November 19th.
