Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann has announced the development of multiple new projects in the The Last of Us universe. This news is important to fans of the series, as it officially confirms the continuation of the cult series after the completion of its previous installments.
This information emerged thanks to an article published by Geoff Keeley on the social network X, which included a link to an interview with the developer in the Washington Post. Studio heads noted that the team has some interesting developments that they will discuss later. However, the exact timing of the announcement remains unknown, as Naughty Dog is currently busy working on the sci-fi adventure Star: Heretic Prophet. Details of the project are still being kept under wraps, and full news on The Last of Us series is unlikely to emerge before the new game is released.
The studio has previously had trouble making big spin-offs. At the end of 2023, the developer canceled multiplayer projects for the series in order to focus all efforts on story-based single-player. This decision was made to protect future releases from resource exhaustion.
