Discord, a messaging app popular with gamers, will resume its global age verification policy in the second half of 2026. The new rules will affect users from all over the world: in order to access adult content, private servers and certain features, you will need to prove your age by uploading an ID or bank card.
The measure has raised serious concerns among the community due to privacy and cybersecurity concerns, especially after last year’s major leak that affected the data of more than 70,000 users who submitted documents for verification.
Despite company management’s assurances that the automatic protection algorithm will save approximately 90% of viewers from completing the process manually, players still express their dissatisfaction on social networks and threaten to refuse to subscribe to Nitro.
