The PlayStation 3 RPCS3 emulator suddenly started running significantly faster on the NVIDIA graphics card. Developers have found a way to work around a bug in the GeForce driver that limits GPU performance. After the correction, the single test increased by as much as 25%. This bug has been present in the driver for a long time and the RPCS3 team has reported it to NVIDIA multiple times, but the thing persists.
To demonstrate the performance improvements, the authors show test scenarios on two different systems. On PC with 9800X3D and RTX 5090, FPS increased by 25%.
Even on a PC with a significantly less powerful 13900K processor and RTX 3080 graphics card – 20%.
