The Sims 4 received a September update focused on Sims quality of life, stability, and behavior. The developers have reimagined dozens of situations in which characters make strange decisions, while also adding a range of new children’s items to the base game for free.
The main focus of this patch is Sims autonomy. Sims should now behave more logically in their daily lives, such as maintaining eye contact during conversations and washing their hands at the nearest sink instead of walking across the house to the kitchen. The developers have also reconfigured relationship autonomy in the Lovestruck and Growing Together expansions so that family dynamics and romantic relationships are less dependent on Sims’ own unexpected decisions.
Additionally, the team also focused on the stability of the game and corrected the main causes of crashes. The most notable free gift to players, however, is the new content selection for kids. New outfits, hairstyles and accessories appear in character creation mode, as do furniture, decorations and various items for children’s rooms during construction. These include “look what I did” frames, a young artist’s palette, a mural, a bright block table and chairs, and a dinosaur diving tank.
For kids, they added sweatshirts, polo shirts, chinos, sequined tops, ruffled shirts and jeans with lace details. There are new hairstyles with ponytails and bangs, and there are four adult hairstyles for children. Kids aren’t left out either: a T-shirt, colorful glasses and a denim jumpsuit are added for them.
Additionally, the update adds a new ready-made room to the game, a range of child-inspired skins, and a new family in the Maxis gallery. Looking at the direction of the patch, this time the developers decided not only to fix what was broken, but also to fix the question that leaves players asking every time: “Why did my Sim decide to do this now?”
