As promised, today, September 25th, AvtoVAZ finally here we go Full-scale production of the new Lada Azimut crossover. The new model was launched last summer, but production of the crossover was delayed by nearly a year and a half due to numerous requirements for equipment and safety, plus the need to find parts suppliers.

The car is built in the iconic AvtoVAZ X style and belongs to the B+ category according to market positioning. Nonetheless, the Lada Azimut is officially considered the Togliatti automotive giant’s flagship product – minus a very niche offering called the Lada Aura.
The Lada Azimut comes with all modern security systems, all-round cameras (in “top” configuration), climate control and a full “winter package” which includes features never seen on a domestic car, such as electrically heated side windows.
As for the power unit, at this stage the manufacturer offers 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter engines with a power of 120 horsepower. and. and 132 liters. and. respectively. The gearbox can be a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT gearbox from “Eastern Partners”. Previously, AvtoVAZ announced plans to equip the most expensive Azimut model with a 1.5-liter turbo engine with an output of 150 hp. and. Paired with a classic hydro-mechanical automatic gearbox, but that’s only a distant prospect at this stage. Unfortunately, the drivetrain of all variants is front-wheel drive: in principle, the Lada Azimut project is not available with all-wheel drive.
Although production has already begun and prices have not yet been announced, it is reasonable to assume that the new product will be significantly more expensive than the Lada Vista. At least because of the greater number of unique elements and the greater mass of metal, 60% of which, by the way, is high-strength steel.
