The creators of shooter Waifu Tactical Force faced the need to completely rebuild the program two years later due to weak underlying mechanics.
The team abandoned standard Unreal Engine 5 tools like Lumen technology in favor of baked lighting to achieve consistent performance. Development lead Evan Hatch noted that the project was created with a focus on deep tactical weapon customization, inertial movement in the spirit of classic shooters, and longevity of the game with support for Linux and dedicated servers.
Developers adhere to the principles of open source software and actively use Linux as their working environment. Therefore, the project has been launched through the Proton compatibility layer in the testing phase. In the future, the author plans to implement the function of launching a custom server to save the game.
Unlike standard hero shooters, this project gives players complete freedom to assemble their equipment. Each user can combine the available barrels and mods to customize the weapon to suit their own fighting style. Pay special attention to the visual design of the weapon: some rifles and pistols are made of translucent colored plastic, allowing you to see the internal parts of the mechanism.
