This grand strategy game is still going strong and will receive its next DLC soon. The game’s first Chronicle Pack will be released in October.
Paradox Interactive has announced the release of “Across the Pillars”, the next DLC pack for long-term strategy game Europa Universalis V. The game’s first Chronicle Pack focuses on the Strait of Gibraltar. The narrow waterway is considered the gateway to the Mediterranean, facilitating trade between Europe and Africa. In the add-on content, you can now take part in the battles of this history.
You can expect historical scenes related to the history of Castile/Spain, Morocco and Granada. In the game, you decide the fate of southern Iberia and can use your control of the region to lead your country to new heights.
In addition to the scenarios, special adventure content, religious orders, and the Iberian Alliance await you in the DLC. There are also new technological advancements and cosmetic game content.
The scope of the official new content is explained as follows:
- Battle of the Channel: A new historical situation focusing on the conflict between Castile, Moroccan Merinid and Granada over the remnants of Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula.
- New decisions, cabinet actions and state interactions surrounding the conflict.
- New events and special promotions related to the Naval Battle of the Strait of Gibraltar.
- The victors of the “Battle of the Channel” will qualify for the “Golden Century” situation, allowing them to further expand their power beyond the region.
- It has more historical charm.

Unique adventure: Special adventure content is only available on cross the pillar Available, including Special Quests, Gold Caravans, and Treasure Fleets.

“Across the Pillars” will be released on October 28, 2026, Europa Universalis V will cost 19.99 euros; the Chronicle Pack is also a direct part of the premium version of the game.
The paid DLC comes with the free game updated to version 1.4, called “Rio Salado”. There will be new gameplay features, systems, and more, as Rio Salado is considered the biggest update to the game yet. It introduced expeditions, changed Catholicism, or significantly improved the trading system.
